June 10 – St. Landelin of Crespin: From robber to founder of the order
On June 10, the Church honors St. Landelin of Crespin , whose life story demonstrates how profound conversion is possible. Born around 625 in northern France, Landelin initially lived as the leader of a band of robbers. After an inner turmoil and an encounter with a devout monk, he was baptized—and radically changed his life.
He became a monk, later a priest, and eventually founded several monasteries, including Crespin Abbey. There he led a strict life of prayer and work. His life is a reminder that holiness can grow from guilt.
Landelin is considered the patron saint of penitents and those who want to reorient their lives.
